This is an event in the Australian Solar Institute’s Knowledge Sharing Series.  The event features the findings of an ASI commissioned report, Realising the Potential of Concentrating Solar Power in Australia, undertaken by IT Power.  Lead author Keith Lovegrove will present on the report’s aims, approach and findings as well as field questions from the audience.

Other speakers: Wes Stein (CSIRO), Daniel Macdonald (ANU), Andrew Want (Vast Solar)

Concentrating Solar Power has bright future in Australia
The Australian Solar Energy Society (AuSES) has welcomed the release of a new Concentrating Solar Power roadmap, which shows Australia can generate 30% of its electricity from large-scale solar thermal and concentrating PV. “This is a landmark report”, said AuSES Chief Executive, John Grimes.

Clean Energy Finance Corporation legislation welcomed

The Australian Solar Energy Society (AuSES) has welcomed the introduction to Parliament of legislation to establish the Clean Energy Finance Corporation. “The $10 billion Clean Energy Finance Corporation will supercharge solar throughout Australia”, said AuSES Chief Executive, John Grimes. “The CEFC will help unlock substantial investment in community, commercial-scale and Big Solar.”

The Australian solar industry has rejected calls from Origin Energy to dismantle the successful Renewable Energy Target. “Nobody should be surprised that a big fossil fuel and coal seam gas company wants to scuttle the Renewable Energy Target”, said John Grimes, Chief Executive of the Australian Solar Energy Society.
