Our next Sydney Central ATA meeting will be on Tuesday 13 March at 6pm

(for 6.30pm start) at the Wallaby Room, 11th floor, Telstra Building, 320 Pitt St, Sydney.

The topic will be one that has the potential to make a large impact, and that is Organic Waste to Energy and Biochar.  The presenter is Adriana Downie,  an entrepreneurial Chemical Engineer who has been working for over 8 years on the development and commercialisation of new technology.  Dr. Downie is a co-founder and Chief Technology Officer at Pacific Pyrolysis and she is recognised internationally as a leader in the field of biochar technology.

Adriana will talk about the development of slow-pyrolysis in organic waste management, a process which is able to produce both renewable electricity and biochar.  The talk will cover how the carbon from the waste is stabilised in the biochar, and can be sequestered in soils to increase the productivity of crops.  Adriana will discuss the latest scientific findings on biochar use along with the efforts to commercialise the technology.
